Why So Blue?

| June 15, 2015 | Parties National

The exterior of the Hotel Jerome shone blue Feb. 15 for Light It Up Blue Aspen, the gala that capped off a weekend of on- and off-mountain events to increase autism awareness and fundraise for Autism Speaks and Ascendigo (formerly Extreme Sports Camp), a local nonprofit dedicated to outdoor recreational programs for youth and adults with autism spectrum disorders.

In just a few years, the party has become a highlight of Aspen’s winter social calendar. Several hundred guests, many sporting blue party attire, filled the Jerome’s ballroom, bidding on silent auction items and enjoying a buffet dinner prepared by Jerome Executive Chef Rob Zack. A spirited live auction (items included a flight card from Sentient Jet and a ski morning on Aspen Mountain with Jonny Moseley), followed by a performance by Los Angeles band Project M, kept the energy high throughout the evening. Continuing the good vibes, a segment filmed during the event aired April 27 on The Doctors. –Photos by Seth Beckton
