There’s a good chance you already love Thrive Causemetics because of its amazing mascara, but the L.A.-based brand just gave you a whole new reason to love them.
In March, Thrive Causemetics debuted its Sunproof 3-in-1 Invisible Priming Sunscreen. The formula doesn’t include Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, meaning it goes on clear on all skin tones. Sunscreen is essential for all faces and this one has you covered whether your daily routine is a full face of makeup or just some tinted chapstick. The featherlight sunscreen is enriched with antioxidants and botanical extracts to help protect your skin from environment stressors and control oil. What’s more, it serves as the ultimate primer because it doesn’t budge for up to 16 hours.
More importantly, Thrive Causemetics' first SPF-dedicated product signals the company’s partnership with Beauty 2 the Streetz. Founded by Shirley Raines, the Los Angeles nonprofit organization feeds and offers showers, hair wash and color, make-up, wigs and connection to the Skid Row community every weekend.
The partnership is an extension of Thrive Causemetics' mantra that their brand is “Bigger than beauty.” For every product purchased, they donate to help a woman thrive, which is done in a variety of ways, including providing a full-ride nursing scholarship to the University of Louisville in honor of Breonna Taylor.

On March 24, Thrive Causemetics and Beauty 2 the Streetz celebrated the launch with a Giving Impact Event. In downtown Los Angeles, they welcomed guests to a lunch at Redbird in downtown L.A., who came together to help do a pack out for Beauty 2 the Streetz.
Raines co-hosted the luncheon with actor Cara Santana and Thrive Causemetics CEO Karissa Bodnar. Guests were treated to stories from both Raines and Bodnar, who also dove into the sunscreen’s background. As someone with sensitive eyes, she herself testified to the product’s gentle greatness.
“We exist to create game-changing products that are more than about selling makeup and skincare. It’s about having an impact,” Bodnar said.
“I never found makeup superficial,” Raines later added. “I found it as an adult game of make believe… A little mascara, an exaggerated eyebrow, nobody knows how messed up you are this morning.”
The lunch’s greatest moment was one of surprise and serendipity. As Raines finished up her remarks, the Thrive Causemetics team surprised her with a $10,000 donation to Beauty 2 the Streetz.
“This is right on time,” Raines said, who later explained on Instagram that “last week she was crying because we have no hygiene and donations are slow.”
“Hold on skid row,” she assured. “Hygiene is coming now.”
