Last month, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts sponsored the annual St. Regis World Snow Polo Championship, along with Aspen Valley Polo Club Owners Marc and Melissa Ganzi.
The only snow polo event held in North America, the event at Rio Grande Park kicked off Aspen’s social season in style. A bevy of celebrities and VIPs showed up to cheer on St. Regis players Nacho Figueras, Nic Roldan and Melissa Ganzi—including Kate Hudson, Danny Fujikawa, Anna Kendrick, Delfina Blaquier, Gustavo Rangel and more. Nacho Figueras has been a St. Regis Connoisseur (a.k.a. brand ambassador) since 2010 and fellow St. Regis Connoisseur and designer Jason Wu also attended the star-studded event, debuting an elegant new sleepwear collection.
Celebrating the best of the brand’s glamorous spirit, St. Regis created an exquisite environment to socialize while cheering on the teams. An alpine-inspired chalet featured prime views of the action, antler chandeliers, cozy furniture decked out in fur throws and most importantly: appearances by Kitty, a Bernese Mountain dog and official mascot of The St. Regis Aspen Resort.
Guests noshed on culinary delights provided by the resort, while a Bloody Mary bar served up the signature St. Regis cocktail, paying homage to the original drink, which was perfected at the King Cole Bar at The St. Regis New York in 1934. St. Regis has long been associated with the world of polo, beginning at the turn of the last century when St. Regis’ founding family, the Astor’s, were a prominent fixture at the matches on Manhattan’s Governors Island.
The brand which today has nearly 50 hotels worldwide, will be debuting new destinations in 2022 including Riviera Maya and Chicago. “This is a pivotal moment for St. Regis as we expect to nearly double our existing resort portfolio by 2025,” says George Fleck, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts Global Brand Leader.
