As an off-and-on local of the Roaring Fork Valley for over 25 years, it’s safe to say Rose Abello knows a thing or two about Snowmass.
Get outside with snowmobiling, skiing and snowboarding in Snowmass
For the past eight years, Abello has taken on the role of tourism director at Snowmass Tourism, where she constantly inspires new visitors and informs locals on events, activities and more. Working hand in hand with local lodges, restaurants and retailers, Abello embodies the latest and greatest that Snowmass has to offer. As an avid outdoors-woman and self-proclaimed numbers person—with 134 days of skiing in one season and 585 consecutive days of yoga—she never shies away from the unknown. We checked in with savvy self-starter for her daily download.

What do you love most about working in Snowmass?
What I love about working in Snowmass are the same things that people who live here and visit here love about Snowmass—year-round access to the outdoors, a superfriendly and welcoming community, unparalleled views and year-round fun.
What motivates or inspires you?
What motivates me professionally is creating ideas and watching them come to life. I love coming up with new, fun (sometimes off-the-wall) ideas, refining them and then making them happen. The more existential answer, or what motivates me personally, is being creative, being surrounded by nature and all its beauty. Lucky me! Snowmass offers a lot of that!
Can you talk about Snowmass Tourism’s role in the community?
Snowmass has a vital role to play within the larger Roaring Fork Valley. One of our goals at Snowmass Tourism is to be a collaborative player within the larger RFV community. We seek to complement each other and to create extraordinary experiences for everyone who lives and visits here. None of us in the Roaring Fork Valley (Aspen, Snowmass Village, Basalt, Carbondale or Glenwood Springs) operate in a vacuum. So many locals and guests seamlessly transition up and down the valley, so whether it is through events, transportation, infrastructure, etc., we strive to work together to provide folks with a great experience.
Sunrise to sunset, describe your perfect day in Snowmass.
I have to say watching both the sunrise and sunset! My favorite thing is to be up before dawn and out on a trail (be it a ski trail or hiking or biking trail) to watch the sunrise. That moment just when dawn breaks is truly my favorite time. For the sunset, there are so many amazing places to be for that moment, but one of my favorites is watching from the hot tubs at the Snowmass Rec Center. Especially in the winter, there is no better place to close out the day. As for in between, my perfect day involves spending time in the Snowmass community, whether professionally meeting with people or ideally outside on the slopes or the trails connecting with guests and locals.
Healthy living is obviously big around here—what is your outdoor go-to activity?
In the winter it involves boards being strapped to my feet (AT skis, downhill skis or a snowboard). In the summer, anything involving getting outside on the trails, be it hiking or biking. Oh, and then there is golf!
What about some indoor fun?
Anything at The Collective Snowmass. The venue is just fun, and the atmosphere speaks to community. They have such a great variety of programming year-round, be it comedy, music, educational talks, bingo or yoga.
