Fashion Visionary Sasha Benz Brings a Little Piece of the Hamptons to Aspen

Winter in Aspen is magical, but below-freezing days may leave some dreaming of summertime. If you’re missing a picturesque Hamptons summer, you’re in luck—a unique piece of Montauk is coming to Aspen. Wyld Blue, the curated vision of aesthetic genius Sasha Benz, features a global mix of beautiful items, including homewares, vintage designer pieces, women’s and children’s clothing brands, and unique jewelry and accessories. What makes owner Benz’s boutique so distinctive is her untraditional approach to retail. Never having worked in wholesale or retail, Benz brings together her experiences as a stylist, creative director of Hampton’s hot spot the Surf Lodge and traveling around the world to create what she calls an “edited and experiential” concept store.
When stepping into Wyld Blue, Benz wants her customers to have a “magical experience of walking into the store and finding items from around the world and feeling like you have been transported to a luxurious beach location with rich textures and items not found easily in your local or online stores.” For the Aspen location, Benz is focusing on a winter aesthetic—think cozy coats, warm silks, bodysuits and knit beanies—and on high-end gold and diamond jewelry. Also unique to this Wyld Blue location is furniture. Benz has been working with furniture suppliers to introduce her new products in Aspen, including pieces she has in her own home.
Aspen came highly recommended by Benz’s Montauk clientele and friends, as many of them venture here after spending their summers on the East Coast. During her initial visit to Aspen, Benz instantly felt a connection to the town and signed the store’s lease. “I’m told there’s a lot of support for new and existing businesses,” she says. “Everyone is very friendly, and the locals mixed with the tourist crowd is what brings the energy in the high season, similar to that of Montauk.” Let the Wyld ride begin. 210 S.
