Kygo is headlining Palm Tree Music Festival in Aspen this winter.
From the beach to the mountains, the Palm Tree Music Festival makes its inaugural winter debut at Belly Up Aspen.
The historically beach-held Palm Tree Music Festival (palmtreemusicfestival.com) is making its first winter appearance in Aspen Feb. 24 and 25 in Rio Grande Park featuring headliners Jack White and festival founder Kygo.
Croatia, Cabo San Lucas and the Hamptons have previously hosted the festival, but Belly Up Aspen owners David and Danny Goldberg thought it was time to add a solid winter destination to the mix. “None have been in locations quite like Aspen, and certainly not like Aspen in the winter, so we wanted to do something unique during one of our favorite times of year,” says Danny Goldberg. “Putting together a strong lineup with headliners that had sonic contrast but still were able to complement the overall experience as a whole was key.”
The rawness of rock ’n’ roll will be on stage with Jack White Friday night, and Kygo’s brilliant melodic compositions will be dancing through the air on Saturday night. Jack White is best known for his involvement in the White Stripes and the Raconteurs and is widely credited as a vital part of the garage rock revival of the 2000s. Every rock artist plays their six strings in a different way, and Jack White manipulates them into an intoxicating extension of his voice. Also accompanying Jack White on Friday night are DJ producer and songwriter Gryffin and indie pop band Cannons.
Day 2 kicks off with performances from Forester, whose indie electronic songs are inspired by mountain views, and King Princess, whose soulful vocals are blended with atmospheric tones. Dynamic Norwegian DJ and forward-thinking producer Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, aka Kygo, will close out the weekend. Kygo cuts through the noise of typical electronic music and crafts songs that miraculously fit into every setting.
“We’ve been friends with Kygo and Myles for years, and we’ve worked together on numerous things,” says David Goldberg, “We’ve been talking about doing something new outdoors here together for some while.” The Goldberg brothers are partnering with Kygo and Myles Shear’s Palm Tree Crew and C3 Presents to throw this one-of-akind festival experience. While they last, tickets are available via Belly Up Aspen (bellyupaspen.com).
