“Fine jewelry clients and fine art clients are the same person,” says Ashley Wein, founder and CEO of Atlas Fine Jewelry and partner with premium art adviser Sarah Calodney of Aspen art gallery event space One Hour Ahead. “What they’re looking for is a unique experience, excellent customer service and something no one else can get.”
Launched last fall in an innovative 2,300-square-foot loftlike space (think pure white art walls, polished concrete floors and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking town and Aspen Mountain) in an equally innovative building adjacent to the Aspen Art Museum, One Hour Ahead curates and facilitates one-of-a-kind events, artist talks, dinners, exhibitions and so forth, for fine arts and fashion companies to discerning individuals. “When partners come in, we help with client flow, organize dinners and talks, and help bring people together,” adds Wein.

The space also houses offices for Wein, who has an international private client network, and Calodney, who previously served as director at Lehmann Maupin art gallery in New York and works with clients across the globe, including eminent collectors, entertainers and financiers.
And the name? “One Hour Ahead was the title of a book put out by the Aspen Art Museum about Aspen’s avant garde art scene in the ’60s, when famous artists were coming to town,” explains Calodney. “At one point, Aspen was in its own time zone, on Central time, one hour ahead of the rest of the state. Providing a sense of cultivation and art appreciation, business owners here are one step ahead of what’s going on in mainstream culture.”
Organizations can rent the space to host special events
This summer, One Hour Ahead has partnered with Marianne Boesky Gallery and Carpenters Workshop for pop-up shows and artist talks, with additional programming in the works. 601 E. Hyman Ave., 2nd Floor
