From May 27 to 28, the Aspen Shining Mountains contest and pow wow will be held at Aspen High School. The event will feature contest dancing and drumming, raffles, Native vendor booths, fry bread and Indian taco stand and presentation booths.

As soon as the snow melts, appreciate the great outdoors with an overnight stay in Maroon Bells. No matter how many times you visit, a trip to witness the wildflowers of springtime; glossy Maroon Lake and warm, jagged mountain range is always breathtaking. The popular loop is an easy trail fit for exploration of waterfalls, ice caves and cascades, followed by a picnic. Just be sure to confirm the snow has melted, the spring runoff isn’t at a high level and to keep your dog on a leash.
