Skiers hike a ridgeline to reach a fresh powder trail in the resort.
When Gordy Megroz, a journalist based in Basalt, went about creating a list of trails for his new book, 100 Slopes of a Lifetime: The World’s Ultimate Ski and Snowboard Destinations, he knew that at least one trail had to make the list. “I’ve always loved G-8 at Aspen Highlands because it’s long and steep and the wind fills it with lots of deep snow,” he says. The 99 other trails are pretty great too. Megroz writes beautifully about ski and snowboard trails all over the world, diving deep into the history and culture of each locale. Published by National Geographic, this inspirational guide also includes a foreword from celebrated Olympic Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn. One thing is for sure: Reading this book will make you want to grab your skis or board and hit the slopes.
