Hexton Gallery is filling this summer with an exciting schedule of events and exhibits worth checking out. One particularly amazing exhibit features the work of artist and musician Scott Avett. Avett is one of the lead singers of the folk-rock band, The Avett Brothers. The exhibit was unveiled July 7—it’s personal, intimate and truly spectacular.

Avett drew inspiration for his work from his experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pieces highlight the artist’s most pivotal moments from the past 18 months. For example, Avett’s painting “Power Outage,” which bears the name of the exhibit itself, represents his experience quarantining with his family during the pandemic. His work is deeply personal and refreshingly relatable. The show expertly balances life’s moments of isolation and introspection with moments of joy and love.
While Avett is known far and wide for his musical abilities, this showcase proves his talent as an artist is equally matched. There’s an artist reception on July 12 at the gallery. Avett’s work is an incredible addition to the summer art scene in Aspen. Stop by Hexton to see his thought-provoking work—it will not disappoint. July 7-27, Hexton Gallery 447 E.
