What is your favorite part of the design process?
Space planning. While I truly enjoy all elements of the design, space planning is perhaps the most important to get right as it creates the groundwork for the rest of a project. When successfully executed, a proper floor plan will perfectly balance comfort, functionality and aesthetics of a space, which is crucial for daily living.
What design concepts are you most excited about for early spring?
I am loving the ‘biophilic architecture’ design trend we are seeing for 2022, which focuses on bringing the outside in by incorporating plants, reclaimed materials and earthy textures. When brought together, these simple design elements create a visual connection to nature and evoke a sense of calm. With that said, I am especially excited about a couple of our spring decor collections, which follow this trend closely: the Rustic Repose collection and the Organic Accessory collection. Each collection will add the perfect finishing touches to any design.
The Harrison swivel chair is complete with its solid frame, craft ed from SFI-certified hardwood, and cushions with recycled steel and eco-friendly foam.
Let’s talk about designing your dream ski chalet. What Arhaus items are must-haves in your home?
Snugg Chair: Our Snugg chair is upholstered in a cozy faux fur and generously filled with a poly-fiber blend that envelops you in softness and comfort, like a warm embrace. This is absolutely one of our must-have chairs and can be easily added to complete any reading nook or ski chalet, of course!
Harrison Swivel Chair: The exposed wood of our Harrison swivel chair features a warm finish complemented by handtailored boucle upholstery [to create] the ultimate luxury. This beautiful chair, with its heavy textural fabric, is a versatile, neutral statement piece that will accentuate any seating arrangement. These chairs could easily be paired alongside a sofa or sectional in a traditional living room seating, or for a more creative arrangement, you could pair four of these together around a coffee table for the ultimate conversation circle.
The Telluride end table elevates any and every space with its one-of-a-kind deeply grained Mexican oak.
Amberly Hair-on Hide Rug: Handcraft ed from sections of undyed hair-on hide, carefully selected for their quality and luster, Amberly features a curved lattice design accentuated by the hide’s natural characteristics. It’s the perfect modern take on the classic Aspen hair-on hide look.
Acacius: The one-of-a-kind detailing is handcraft ed by Mexican artisans by leaving panels of solid iron outside in the elements to naturally oxidize. Then each piece of metal is molded around natural wood veneers taken from ethically salvaged yucca trees. The Acacius is where art and furniture come together. It is the perfect combination of natural materials merged to create a unique centerpiece for your living room that will get your guests talking.

Ubud Console: Reclaimed and vintage-inspired, the Ubud collection is handcraft ed by Indonesian artisans from sustainably sourced reclaimed teak wood. I feel the Ubud, with its simplistic design, use of natural materials and variations in size, can be easily placed anywhere in your home and is a timeless addition to any mountain design.
Snugg faux fur chair
Telluride: The Telluride collection is handcraft ed from deeply grained Mexican oak and naturally oxidized metal, making it as stunning as it is unique. In my opinion, this table emulates mountain modern design. I love to combine this table with bright pops of white for a balance of modern simplicity with the warmth of natural materials—perfect for Aspen.
Madrone Leather: The Madrone collection is designed for luxurious living spaces. It features low-profile silhouettes with track arms and deep seating upholstered in a rich, buttery-soft , aniline-dyed leather. Leather is a great way to add in a natural material and texture to your design. I’d pair this with a faux fur throw and rich velvet accent pillows for a touch of mountain luxe.
Bodhi Bed: The Bodhi collection features bold, minimalist silhouettes with a new take on rustic. The collection honors the beauty of simple construction and emphasizes the gorgeous grain of natural white oak. With its clean lines and warm finish, this bedroom collection can be seamlessly integrated into mountain modern design. I would pair it with white linen bedding and colorful accent pillows that are indicative of the outdoors.
The Kirsten dining chair features a cozy scoop seat, Crypton performance fabricand an antique brass finish.
Kirsten Dining Chair: The Kirsten is where modern meets comfort. Th e sculpted silhouette features an elegant scoop seat and gently curved back upholstered in Crypton performance fabric. I absolutely love the ‘lightness’ and simple elegance of this chair and feel that its clean lines and white upholstery would pair well with natural materials such as wood or copper, adding a bit of glamour every ski chalet needs.

Reclaimed Wood Foosball Table: Mexican artisans complement yukas veneer surfaces and ochre milpa burl players with oxidized steel and aluminum finishes perfect to bring your family and friends together on a snowy Aspen evening! I could easily see this being incorporated into a multipurpose room as it is a great space filler and fun for entertaining. 625 E. Hyman Ave., 970.239.0121
